Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2019 in double magnum is a benchmark example of classic California Zinfandel, sourced from the renowned Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. First made by Ridge in 1972, it remains one of the estate’s most celebrated bottlings, combining ripe fruit, structure, and remarkable depth in a format that is perfect for cellaring or sharing at a special occasion.

Makuprofiili
The wine pours an impressively dark, inky color, hinting at the concentration within. On the nose, it offers layers of ripe blackberry, blood orange, pepper, licorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers, all wrapped in a warm, earthy spice profile. On the palate, it is full-bodied and expansive, with generous fruit and plenty of dimension from the blend of Zinfandel, Carignan, and Petite Sirah. The flavors echo the aromatics and build beautifully across the palate, with excellent balance, depth, and a long finish. While already highly expressive, this is a wine with strong aging potential, especially in double magnum format.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit for Lytton Springs comes from sustainably farmed vines in Dry Creek Valley, a warm but nuanced terroir that is particularly well suited to old-vine Zinfandel. The grapes were destemmed before fermentation, helping to preserve purity of fruit and offer a polished, refined texture. The wine was then matured in American oak, with around 10% new barrels and the rest ranging from one to four years old, adding subtle spice without overpowering the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural partner for grilled and roasted meats, especially barbecue ribs, lamb chops, beef short ribs, or a richly seasoned pork shoulder. It also works beautifully with aged cheeses and hearty mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 1 hour if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
