Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2019 Magnum

Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2019 Magnum is a benchmark California red from one of Dry Creek Valley’s most celebrated old-vine sites. First produced by Ridge in 1972, this classically styled blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Carignan captures both the power and generosity that have made Lytton Springs a cult favorite for decades.

Makuprofiili
This is a deeply colored, almost opaque red that immediately signals richness in the glass. The nose opens with ripe blackberry, blood orange, black pepper, licorice, tobacco leaf and dried flowers, layered with the kind of savory complexity that gives Lytton Springs its unmistakable character. On the palate, it is expansive and full-bodied, with waves of dark fruit and spice repeating the aromatic profile. The magnum format should support graceful aging, allowing the wine’s structure and detail to develop beautifully over time.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, where the warm Californian climate and well-suited site help deliver ripe, concentrated fruit with plenty of character. The grapes are grown sustainably and were destemmed before fermentation, then matured in American oak barrels, including 10% new oak and the remainder in barrels aged between one and four years.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural partner for grilled or roasted meats, barbecue, braised short ribs, lamb and rich mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours to let the wine fully open, especially given its magnum format and layered structure.
