Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2020 300CL

Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2020 is a standout California red from one of the most celebrated old-vine sites in Dry Creek Valley. Built around Zinfandel with supporting Carignan, Petite Sirah, and Mataro, it combines power, depth, and balance in a style that has made this cuvée a benchmark since Ridge first bottled it in 1972.

Makuprofiili
This is a deeply colored, almost inky red wine that immediately signals richness in the glass. The nose opens with ripe blackberries, blood orange, pepper, liquorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers, giving it both intensity and complexity. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, with layers of dark berry fruit, spice, and savory nuance unfolding with each sip. The texture is broad and mouth-filling, yet the wine remains composed and precise, with enough structure to reward cellaring for several years, especially as its earthy and spice-driven notes continue to develop.

Viininvalmistus
Lytton Springs comes from the historic Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, where warm California sunshine and well-drained soils help create concentrated fruit with natural depth. The grapes were sustainably farmed and destemmed before fermentation, allowing for a clean expression of site and variety. After vinification, the wine matured in American oak barrels, with about 10% new oak and the rest between one and four years old, adding seasoning without overshadowing the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats, slow-cooked ribs, barbecue, lamb, and richly seasoned dishes, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C for the best expression of fruit and spice. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opened young, as it will help the wine unwind and show its full aromatic range.
