Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2021

Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2021 is one of California’s great Zinfandel-based blends, drawn from the historic Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. First made by Ridge in 1972, it continues to showcase the estate’s signature style: deep, structured, and beautifully layered, with Zinfandel supported by Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Petite Sirah.

Makuprofiili
The wine pours a very dark, almost opaque red in the glass, hinting at its concentration and intensity. Aromas open with ripe blackberry, blood orange, pepper, liquorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers, creating a highly expressive and complex bouquet. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, filling the mouth with layer upon layer of dark fruit, spice, and savoury nuance. The texture is rich and powerful, yet balanced by freshness and structure, giving it excellent ageing potential over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley is a renowned site in Sonoma County, where warm days and well-drained soils help produce ripe, concentrated fruit with natural character. The grapes were sustainably farmed and fully destemmed before fermentation, then matured in American oak barrels, of which 10% were new and the remainder were between one and four years old.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a classic match for grilled and roasted meats, especially lamb, beef, short ribs, and barbecued dishes, as well as hearty stews and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine’s depth and aromatics to fully unfold.

Ridge Vineyards is one of California’s most respected names, known for producing site-driven wines with a strong sense of place and remarkable consistency. Since taking over production of Lytton Springs in 1972, the winery has helped establish the vineyard as one of the benchmark sites for Zinfandel-based blends in the region, with winemaker Eric Baugher continuing that legacy today.
