Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2021 300CL

Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs is one of California’s benchmark Zinfandel-based blends, sourced from the historic Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. First produced by Ridge in 1972, it has long been celebrated for its depth, balance, and unmistakable sense of place, with winemaker Eric Baugher continuing the legacy today.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a very dark, almost inky color that hints at its richness and concentration. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of ripe blackberry, blood orange, pepper, licorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generous, with impressive mouthfeel and a seamless echo of the aromas carried through in layers. The blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignan, and Mourvèdre brings both power and complexity, while the structure suggests excellent aging potential over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, a site known for producing concentrated, characterful old-vine wines in California’s warm yet balanced Sonoma terroir. All fruit is sustainably farmed and was fully destemmed before fermentation. The wine was then matured in American oak barrels, with 10% new oak and the rest between one and four years old, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving its vibrant fruit character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a bold, food-friendly red that pairs beautifully with grilled or slow-cooked meats, barbecue, lamb chops, beef short ribs, and richly spiced dishes. It also works well with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if possible to let the wine open up fully.
