Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs 2018 is one of California’s classic Zinfandel-based blends, sourced from the historic Lytton Springs Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. First made by Ridge in 1972, it continues to stand out for its depth, balance, and the way it captures the character of this iconic site.

In the glass, the wine shows a very dark, almost opaque color that hints at its concentration and power. The nose opens with ripe blackberries, blood orange, pepper, licorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers, giving it both richness and a lifted, aromatic complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generous, with layer upon layer of dark fruit and spice repeating the aromas in a seamless, polished way. The wine feels complete and confident, with the structure to age well over the coming years while remaining immediately enjoyable for those who like bold, expressive California reds.

Lytton Springs Vineyard lies in Dry Creek Valley, one of Sonoma County’s most respected areas for old-vine Zinfandel and related varieties. The fruit for this wine was grown sustainably, harvested with care, and fully destemmed before fermentation. It was then aged in American oak barrels, with 10% new oak and the remainder between one and four years old, helping preserve fruit purity while adding subtle spice and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a natural match for grilled lamb, braised short ribs, barbecue, roast duck, or rich dishes with herbs and smoke. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if you want the aromas to open fully and the texture to soften.
