Vega Sicilia Pintia 2017

Pintia 2017 is a powerful and characterful Tempranillo from Spain’s Toro-inspired Castilla y León, made by the prestigious Vega Sicilia group. Matured for 12–15 months in French and American oak, it delivers impressive depth, structure, and complexity, with the kind of intensity that has made Pintia one of the standout names in the region.

Makuprofiili
Deep ruby in the glass, this is a full-bodied red with an expressive and layered profile. The nose shows dark forest berries, vanilla, leather, and tobacco, supported by a ripe, concentrated fruit core and a polished oak influence. On the palate, Pintia 2017 is bold and complete, with considerable power, firm structure, and a rich, savoury finish. The combination of low yields and careful élevage gives the wine both immediate impact and the potential to develop further with bottle age, gaining nuance and softness over time.

Viininvalmistus
Pintia comes from 96 hectares of vineyards in Toro, a northern Spanish area known for its demanding climate and naturally low yields. The region’s harsh conditions contribute to concentration and intensity in the fruit, while careful vineyard work and gentle winemaking help preserve balance and character. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12–15 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for hearty dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb, slow-braised beef, game, or rich mushroom-based recipes. It also works well with aged Manchego and other mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least an hour to allow the wine’s aromas and structure to open fully.
