Weingut Prager’s Riesling Wachau Achleiten Smaragd 2023 comes from one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Wachau, making it a standout expression of Austrian Riesling. The steep, stone-rich slopes of Achleiten and the wine’s Smaragd classification point to remarkable concentration, ripeness and depth, while the style remains sharply mineral and beautifully precise. Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Riesling is typically bright and vivid, reflecting its freshness and intensity. The nose is marked by flint, gunpowder smoke and crushed stone, layered with white peach, papaya and other tropical fruit notes. On the palate, it is concentrated and spicy, with a pronounced mineral core and a firm, structured profile that gives the wine impressive focus. The balance of ripe fruit and crystalline acidity suggests excellent aging potential, allowing the wine to evolve gracefully over many years while gaining further complexity and depth.

Viininvalmistus
Achleiten lies east of Weissenkirchen and is among the most famous vineyard sites in the Wachau. The vines, some up to 65 years old, grow on steep slopes of gneiss and slate, giving the wine its distinctive mineral character. The grapes are harvested by hand, then vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and matured for seven months in steel, followed by two months in bottle before release.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb partner for refined dishes such as grilled fish, shellfish, sushi, lightly spiced Asian cuisine, or poultry with citrus and herbs. It also works well with asparagus, vegetable dishes and young cheeses. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration may help reveal its aromatic complexity.
